September

We book-ended the month with some fun trips and filled the middle with school, work, sports and activities. Dad spent a few solo hours in DC while getting Parker from his trip and was able to visit several museums. He also fit in a few last Braves games and we all enjoyed seeing some Lovett friends at the Homecoming tailgate.

Avery (11 years, 1 month) - Avery started her Fall activity, doing theater crew for a local company's production of School House Rock. She has been enjoying lots of arts/crafts and making new friends. She and mom also took a trip to the North Georgia Fair where she was way braver than mom on her ride choices and enjoyed lots of souvenir shopping.

Parker (13 years, 10 months) - Parker's travel team played their first two tournaments of the Fall and won both of them. Parker was even named MVP Pitcher for the second tournament. He has a few new players on the team last year but they aren't new faces so it looks like it will be a fun season. He also continues to enjoy playing rec baseball and has been practicing with the Middle School Cross Country team but unfortunately the meets all conflict with baseball games.

Parker and his Lovett 8th grade class, spent a few days in DC for his 8th grade trip! They kept the kids super busy and Parker was wiped out at the end. His favorite part was going to Dave & Busters and the Holocaust Museum. They also caught a Braves game, saw all the Smithsonian Museums and monuments, visited the US capital and archives and were able to participate in a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington.

Carter (15 years, 4 months) - Carter had a great month on the baseball field with the Mighty Mussels. It has been good to see him work into a leader role on the team and get along with his brother most of the time. He and dad were able to make a Tech football game which was a nice solo outing, and a Tech win! And his 10th grade class had their annual trip where they spent the day hiking and rafting the Chattahoochee to learn about its impact on the area both geologically and historically.

Siblings - The boys have lots of sibling time on the baseball field. But Avery was able to join in the fun with football season starting back up.

Summit One Vanderbilt

A highlight of the trip was Summit One Vanderbilt. There are several lookout locations around the city but this one is the newest, had great reviews and the location worked. It definitely didn't disappoint. There are 3 floors of lookouts, including a glass box ledge, and art installations making for a fun visit beyond just enjoying the skyline.
