Holden Troupe Performances

The kids, led by Parker, have been super into putting on shows lately.  They have a lot of fun doing them together and seeing their creativity come through is awesome.  Not only are the shows fun, but seeing all the props they make as well as facilities (Parker is very adamant to have a cash only concession stand at all shows).  Mimi and Uncle Reid came over and the kids had two shows prepared.  The first was the "Flying Show".  Admission was $1 and it was sponsored by Disney and the NFL.  The boys threw different objects down to the waiting audience below.

The next show also cost a $1 and it was just Parker's show called "Flames on a Ride".  Parker also set up a concession stand for the show on the back of mom's car.  The show quickly turned into a free for all when the siblings joined.  Then sprinklers came on and the sillies came out!

Atlanta United Game

We took in an Atlanta United game today at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  We had LOTS of company as the record was set for the highest attendance ever at an MLS game.  The game ended in a 3-3 draw but the boys had a blast and have really become soccer fans!  The are both learning the team cheers enthusiastically, and know the names of a number of players.  Best of all, they really watch the whole game and were even disappointed at the recent draw as they didn't want the game to end.

Trials of Being the Little Sister

One of the challenges with our current carpool schedule is it doesn't leave time for Avery to get a good nap (which she fights these days anyway).  So almost every day she ends up falling asleep in carpool line waiting for her brothers.  And on a super rare day, once we get home she crawls into mom's bed and passes out.

August at School

Avery had an awesome month at preschool.  Once we got into the carpool routine, she did great going to school and getting picked up.  She loves being a big girl and walking to her room by herself.  Her one homework exercise for the month was to create a lily pad with pictures of her family.  She picked out the pictures and decorations.  Her favorite day of the month was when she got to carpool to school with the Gomez kids!  She has also been enjoying taking her brothers to school and getting to pick them up.

Parker is loving Kindergarten especially with all sorts of fun activities going on.  Plus using cheerios to do math makes learning fun.  He has has a PB&J and apple for lunch every day.  Though he ventured out to include a bowl of cereal as the month went on.  The lunch line is still a bit intimidating to him.  Highlights of the month included cookies with Ms. Marshall (Lower School Principal) at the Lovett cafe (Parker only ate half so he could share it with Avery after school); All School Chapel where each Kindergartner gets to walk in during the procession with two Seniors (one of Parker's buddies was actually a neighbor); and getting his fifth grade buddy, Chase (this program pairs up K and 5 students to meet a few times a month to help indoctrinate K to the school and teach 5 leadership skills).  Last, Parker has been having fun making new friends in the afternoons.  He gets out of school 40 minutes before Carter so he and Avery go play in the Dell with other K friends to pass the time.

Carter is enjoying second grade.  He is friendly with all the boys in his class which has made the transition easy.  He is also a big kids now and wears a Chapel uniform on chapel day each week which makes him look all grown up!
