Santa Visit Round 3 - The Battery

For our next visit to Santa we visited the Battery for their annual tree lighting.  The kids saw Santa again who had a Braves-themed set-up going on.  Avery made a list for Santa with a lot of Braves themed items including a Braves castle.  After Santa the kids played some baseball games and made themselves Baseball cards.  Parker had fun wearing a green shirt in front on the green screen.  We also met Santa's raindeer and one of his elves.

November at School

Carter is enjoying school and doing well with the increased expectations in 3rd grade.  He has gotten into a routine of coming home and doing his homework each day without being asked.  Carter got his own school email account this year and has been using it to email teachers and friends about assignments.  The Lower School had a NUD day to celebrate Arts at Lovett and Carter's grade wore white.  For his monthly Chinese lesson, the class learned how to make dumplings.  And the big event for 3rd grade this month was the Read-a-thon.  Each child committed to read for 100 minutes and they solicited donations for their efforts.  Next month the kids will go to Target to buy toys/clothes for a local homeless shelter with the funds they raised.

For the Read-a-thon, each child got to bring in one item from home to read with

Parker is also enjoying school and typically has a strong superlative to describe his day - awesome, great, spectacular.  The first grade got to wear red for their NUD day.  Parker's favorite activity this month was making a marble run during In-Gen lab.

Avery had a lot of fun at her Thanksgiving Feast.  The class all dressed up like Indigenous people and ever got to come up with a name for themselves.  Avery chose "Spirited Princess Runner".  Her teachers and parent volunteers dressed up like Pilgrims.  The class had a big meal, listened to a few stories and did several crafts.  Mimi came and brought all the cute crafts!  Avery is still enjoying her after school activities and enjoys making yummy goodies in cooking class each week.

Happy Thanksgiving

We fit in a lot of fun for Thanksgiving this year!

For our first meal, we had a nice brunch at the Cherokee Country Club with Pops and Emme.  While they had the usual holiday spread, we also enjoyed jumbo shrimp, oysters and prime rib!  The kids were enthralled by the massive dessert table and it was a very successful new tradition.

After the big lunch, Mimi planned a light picnic dinner at Piedmont park which gave the kids time to run around and test out all the electric scooters.

After eating, we hit up the Botanical Gardens for their holiday light show.  It wasn't too cold and thankfully there was plenty of hot chocolate to warm us up!

We were also able to fit in a neighborhood holiday tradition with our flag football game.  Carter joined the dads game and once they were done the rest of the kids joined in.  Except Avery... she was freezing and buried herself in our wagon.

It was a very full and blessed holiday with all our friends and family!
