Carter at 16 Months

Little man is 16 months old! Here are a few snip-its of what is going on in the life of Carter William Holden...

- He is really enjoying his new classroom, particularly the space and all the play time he gets.
- They also have daily learning lessons focusing on physical development, cognitive skills, emotional/social development, language/literacy development, transition activities and increasing independence/hygiene. We get a chart each week with what activity they do in each category each day.
- His favorite classes at school are art and gym.
- He brings home 2-3 art projects a week and has insisted mom and dad let him draw each night after dinner. Our fridge is covered with Carter's masterpieces.
- He hates to get his hands messy which is particularly hilarious after art time. If he notices that he got marker on his hands, he will start to cry until you clean them off.
- Carter is trying more and more to express his wants and he gets upset when you don't respond or he doesn't get what he wants.
- His appetite and preferences change week to week. One day he loves green beans, the next day it's strawberries or meatballs. Bananas and apple sauce are still the every day go-to's.
- Carter got his 2nd haircut this month and his first from Mom and Dad. We tag teamed him in the bath and it was fairly successful. Hopefully next time he will be ready to give the professionals a shot!
- Finally, as much as it pains me to say... Carter LOVES dad. Mom is pretty good but she's no daddy. Dad definitely has the magic touch with his son ;)

And as a bonus... Carter is expanding his artistic side beyond the pen and going visual. Here is his first take at a photographic self portrait.
What a cutie!
