Carter's Birthday Party

Sunday wasn't just Mother's Day, it was also Carter's birthday party at the last Georgia Tech home baseball game.  First on the agenda, Avery's first tattoo.
Carter got all dressed up in his big boy (10-14 year old) official Georgia Tech baseball jersey.
Before we left, Carter made his team pump up sign (reads: Let's Go Georgia Tech!  Buzz!  Score Runs!  Win The Game!)
The weather was setting up for a perfect day and Avery was all smiles waiting for the first pitch to go.  Carter was go excited about her outfit that he exclaimed "she made my eyeballs hurt" when he first saw her.
Carter and Parker watched the teams each take their warm-ups as they waited for Carter's party guests to arrive.
As his pals all showed, the kids were invited to the first base fence as they were to partake in the national anthem on the field with the team.
All the kids were invited to line up with the team (the team also had their mom's on the field for Mother's Day).
All the kids just to the left of the dugout
It was a motley crew of kiddos and parents.  Many took their front row seats to watch the game up close.  Being that the day was over 80 degrees and not a cloud in site, many also took refuge in the shade of our tables above the bleachers with cold drinks.
Tech did a great job with the kids and had them involved throughout the game.

High fives for the team every three innings is always a hit with the kids
It's a two for one deal as you get another high five as they come back

A special suprise was in the 5th inning.  Carter was invited into the press box and sat with the public announcer.
After a quick conversation to get him comfortable, it was Carter's turn to announce each Tech batter as they came to the plate.  He did a great job and had the whole press box laughing many times with his sincere and innocent questions.  Best of all he did a great job motivating the team to a 4-run inning to put the game out of reach for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Soon it was time for cookie cake!
Nothing brings 4-6 year olds together like cake ;)
This year, no embarrassment, once the "Happy Birthday" song was over, Carter went to town getting his candles out and cake for the kids.
The whole gang did a great job sticking out the whole game and having a blast.  At the end of the game they let all the kids take turn running the bases.
It was a great 5th birthday party for our proud little man (notice his baseball signed by the whole team).
It was a long an tiring day, as we made our way home, emails and texts of kids sleeping on the way home started to come through... even our little men weren't immune to needing a quick cat nap after all the fun.
