One reason we picked this ship was to check out Disney's new private island. It just opened this summer and has a very different feel than Castaway Cay. The theme is definitely aimed at keeping things natural and celebrating the local Bahamian culture. We somehow ended up as the first people off the boat which gave us first pass at the long walk from the boat to the island and first row on the tram to where the activities are. But we celebrated arriving with the first soft serve of the day and had a full day to check everything out. We saw the characters and hit up the photo opps, played at the splash pad and snorkeled at the beach, watched the Junkaroo parade, attended the Junkaroo cultural activity and joined playtime with the characters. We even had time for a Banana boat ride (Avery's top choice for the trip) which she loved and mom would prefer to never do again.
