We were able to snag Crown Tickets for the Statue of Liberty so we made a day in the area, wandering through Chinatown and the Financial Market and visiting the 9/11 Memorial before taking the Ferry to the statue and Ellis Island. Climbing to the crown was a steep, claustrophobia inducing experience but the kids handled it fine and we were rewarded with great views at the top. We visited various exhibits on Ellis and enjoyed learning about what the experience was like for immigrants at that time. Dad even looked up the record for several family members who immigrated through Ellis.
