Headed to Disney

Be warned... lots of Disney trip recap is coming up!

Snowmagedden round 1 hit Atlanta the afternoon and evening before we were to leave for Disney.  With major hills getting into our neighborhood, dad took the minivan home (front wheel drive rocked in the storm) to pack up and we all spent the night at Mimi's house.  We woke up really early to get a jump on the trip with the hopes that the roads would be empty...
We spend a ridiculously long time stuck on 285 trying to get out of town.  We ended up using all the tricks in our book: sweet talking truck drivers, off roading and hitting up back roads to maneuver around some major traffic.  It was an incredibly long day but the boys did GREAT in car.  And about 14 hours after we started our 7 hour trip, we arrived at Disney(7 hours to literally go 13 miles)!
We had kept the trip a secret from the boys so they had no idea where we were going.  They were incredibly excited once we arrived at Disney and they were able to stretch their legs!
After a quick dinner and greetings with some additional surprise vacation participants... Grandma and Grandpa, we were all off to bed!

January Excitment

It was a crazy late-December/January at the Holden House.  On the exciting news front, we took a late month trip to celebrate some exciting news...
We are expecting Baby #3 in August!  We are all very excited and a little unsure about what a third baby will bring but we can't wait to find out.  Carter is undecided between wanting a brother named "Poop" or a sister named "William Carter".  Parker doesn't understand what is going on.

On the non-exciting front, this pregnancy has brought a lot of not fun side effects and mom has been down for the count a good portion of the month.  And there was a kidney stone (actually two stones) incident that didn't help the situation ;)

The weather has been really crummy in Atlanta the past month with crazy ice, snow and temperatures that have unfortunately led to a lot of home time and cabin fever for the boys.  Needless to say, we are all excited for some warm weather!

Parker
Parker is really coming into his own.  He is developing a little personality to rival his brother.  He is talking a lot more.  He prefers to always have his way including refusing to eat just about everything.  He loves to dance, sing and copy whatever Carter does.  Wrestling is one of the boys' favorite activities.

Parker has been having a ball at school lately and we get regular reports of how much Parker enjoys dance time.  He is so cute and will ask the other girls in his class to dance with him.  One day he even danced with three girls at the same time.  He is definitely a little cutie.  His favorite song is "What the Fox Says".  He will watch the video on constant repeat and sing and dance along with it.  He recently got a new fox stuffed animal and he calls it "fox says".

He is a really good boy but occasionally will do something wrong.  Whenever he is told "No" or to "say he is sorry" for something he freaks out and demands to be put into timeout.  It's pitiful but adorable.
Parker made this hat at school in December and LOVES it
Parker got to accompany dad to some basketball games... he had a GREAT time.

Carter
Carter had a great month.  He is very excited about the baby and loves to ask questions about his new sibling.  He was also incredibly excited to see the snow this past month.  Dad sees lots of fun snow trips in their future!
Carter has the craziest bead head every morning.  We have about given up on messing with it and send him to school looking like a crazy person.  Thankfully he allows his teacher to fix it!

Here are some more January pictures.

End of the Burgess Family Visit

Most of the family headed to the Aquarium for our last full day with the Burgess family (poor Aunt B was sick).  Carter was extremely excited to show Baby Wren all the fish.  It was crazy busy but we took advantage of a lull during the dolphin show to check everything out.

After a long day, the boys decided a cousin bath was in order....
And some late night snuggles with Uncle Reido.

The next morning, we had some last minute snuggles with baby Wren before he had to head home.

We won't have to wait too long to see the Burgess family again - Baby Wren's first birthday is right around the corner in March!

Boxing Day

Boxing day meant Rest day for the Holden's.  With a full house, varying nap schedules, and some germs lurking around, we decided to make it a low key day.  But that didn't mean it wasn't full of fun!

Carter made the coffee table a boat to avoid the swarming alligators!
Making gingerbread houses with Aunt B and Pops
Carter liked sneaking candies
Parker took the task very seriously!
But had a blast!

Christmas Evening

After naps and a quick attempt at cleaning up, we were ready to host the Jones family for Christmas dinner.  It was a nice casual evening of family time with some presents and game thrown in!  Dad even started a fire so the house felt extra cozy (albeit a bit smoky ;)).  Merry Christmas Eve from the Holden's!
