If you haven't been to Disney in a while, make sure to get to the parks when they open. This is when lines are the shortest and you have the best chance to hit up popular rides if you do not have a FastPass. In addition, the opening show at Magic Kingdom is something the kids love and yet again we were there for the rope drop.
All the kids were very excited for the first ride of the week, the Jungle Cruise. Avery was very entertaining as she had no idea what was going on and the constant and changing stimulation on the way to the ride and then on the ride seem to be very entertaining to her.
Carter is also now tall enough for all the rides except Space Mountain (one more inch to go). Splash Mountain has quickly become a favorite of his and he was kind enough to escort Mom on a ride (front row).
He then told Dad he wouldn't get wet and convinced him to go on a ride as well... Dad got wet.
Meanwhile, Parker's height is also about an inch off many rides, so while Carter hit some of the bigger rides, Parker and Avery had fun with either Mom or Dad doing other fun activities. One was a ride on Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride.
Aladdin and Jasmine were on the ride with us (look three carpets behind us) |
Parker turned out to be obsessed with Characters this trip and was so excited to see all of them, first up was Woddy and Jessie from Toy Story.
Jessie decided to wake a sleeping baby :( |
Despite Jessie waking Avery from her morning nap, Avery was able to quickly shake her cob webs and provide some very confused looks with her first character meeting.
Avery and Mom were able to sneak some additional time with Tiana from the Princess and the Frog movie while Dad and the boys enjoyed the Country Bear Jamboree.
Soon it was time for lunch, we decided to hit up Chef Mickey's to let the kids settle down a bit and get Avery in some air conditioning (Florida was hot this week). Carter quickly became a doting brother much to the excitement of his sister.
Soon the Disney gang of characters started coming to our area and a quick napkin dance party ensued. Carter was hooked.

Character meals are a lot of fun for the kids and gives them added personal time with the characters. The boys were excited to see all, most of all Mickey Mouse.
Not to be outdone with excitement, Avery was very happy to meet the characters as well, but here excitement seemed to be more curiosity driven.
Happy boys with Chef Donald |
As the characters continued to come by, the hugs got bigger and bigger |
Minnie Mouse - a favorite of all |
Carter loves Avery and she enjoys his company a lot |
Soon we wrapped up lunch and were back at the park. It was time to explore Tomorrowland. Carter gave the evil Emporer Zurg his best fight.
There is something still fun about the PeopleMover |
Dad got the family great seats for the afternoon parade, and was able to get a nice photo on Main Street right before the parade started.
Getting ready for the parade to start |
The Festival of Fantasy Parade was a lot of fun, the non-character costumes and floats are very impressive.

Peter Pan and Captain Hook |
Parker has also been very into the Princesses and he was very excited to see Rapunzel and Cinderella
Big smiles for Parker |
Parker has watched the movie Tangled about once every other week leading up to this trip and seeing Rapunzel was on his must do list.
After some more rides, it was time for dinner. A quick stop at Casey's Corner meant fun hot dogs and a old time piano player.
We didn't stay to late as we knew we would be back later in the week and wanted to ensure we had our energy for the next exciting day to come.
