Parker (1 month)
Parker loves to be held. Usually for one stretch at night he will cry every time we put him in the bassinet but if you put him in the bed he is out. He is like this with naps too. I guess the little guy likes us =) Unfortunately mom/dad don't sleep to well with baby in the bed so hopefully this doesn't continue.
He is doing a little better with his sleep stretches and usually going 3-4 hours once per night along with several 2 hour stretches. He likes to nurse frequently throughout the day some of which seems to be more pacifying than nursing so we're going to try and regulate this a bit more.
We started doing tummy time this week to mixed reviews. His Dr said it would help his gas and spitting up which it does seem to do. Parker does pretty good at lifting his head up for a little while and turning it from side to side.
We have been putting out a book of baby faces for him to look at and he genuinely seems to look at the different pictures for a while.
In some big news this week, Colin went out of town for the first time since Parker was born. Luckily Grandmommy was around to help me out! Everyone survived and the house was standing when Colin got home.
Carter (19 months, 2 weeks)
Carter has all of a sudden started speaking in "sentences". He will tell you a story or answer your question with a several word response. Sometimes he just starts chatting from the backseat. Unfortunately mom/dad usually don't have any idea what his words mean. But it's pretty funny to see him trying to have actual conversations. The only sentences we can understand are "No More" and "Bye-Bye X".
Carter got an Elmo book at Caitlyn's birthday party where he does the Itsy-Bitsy Spider song. After reading it a few times, Carter now has all the hand motions down and likes to act out the song. Elmo is still his favorite thing. A day doesn't go by that he doesn't ask about Elmo.
We stopped giving Carter his paci during nap time at daycare this week. They cut off the animal from the paci and just gave the animal to him the first day. He said "uh-oh" for about a minute while inspecting it and then fell asleep. He napped for 1-1/2 hours the first two days and then went to 2 hours on Friday. He usually napped for 2-3 hours so he's been going to bed earlier at night. We tried to do the same at home with no luck so hopefully he'll keep doing alright sans-paci at daycare.
While Colin was gone, mom had been letting Carter sleep in a bit since he's been pretty tired recently. Around 7:45am Wednesday, the dogs started barking and mom looked up to see Carter standing at the end of the bed. He had crawled out of his crib, opened his door and come into our room. Needless to say, I was a bit shocked! Carter didn't act like anything was unusual, he didn't cry or have any visible marks from the "fall". He just grabbed my hand and we walked back to his room to get changed. We have his crib at the lowest level so we're going to get a crib tent to make sure we don't have any toddlers overboard!
