Weekly Recap

Parker (3 months)
Parker was a little under the weather this week with a cold.
He didn't let that stop him from having a fun week being an infant.  He seems to be a little bigger each week.  A few of his 3 month outfits already seem to short.  He is doing the typical things for a child his age.  He likes to look at mirrors and lights, he gets chatty occasionally and he likes to smile.  His best smiles are when you stroke his cheeks or change his diaper.  He is quite the flirt when getting his diaper changed!

Carter (21 months)
Carter had a bit of a rough week sleeping.  He didn't want to go to bed until late and he didn't want to be alone.  After a few days we came to the conclusion that he seemed to be teething.  He had all the signs of Carter teething... low grade fever, irritability, biting, runny nose.  There doesn't seem to be anything coming in so far so hopefully this won't go on until his molars pop through.

When he wasn't trying to go to sleep, he was his usual happy self.
And seems to enjoy having Parker around!
And in really big news, Carter showed off a new skill at the end of the week... counting!  All of a sudden while reading his 'Cookie Can Count' book Carter started counting all by himself from 1 to 10.  I grabbed the camera and took a quick video.  He was a little camera shy but you get the point.
Our little guy is growing up!

Getting Cultured at the Museum

Carter was pretty excited when he woke up today and learned we were headed to the museum to meet up with his pal Caitlyn.
With two busy toddlers, we spent most of the time chasing them around separate parts of the museum.  Carter started off by doing some grocery shopping.  He went right for the veggie's (the Burgess' would be proud!).   Don't mind the diaper ;)
Then it was off to fish.  Apparently fishing requires serious concentration.
Next Carter wondered over to the Clifford exhibit.  He had a blast driving the boat...
Playing with bones and spotting trains.
Sweet, baby Parker spent the morning taking in all the sights and sounds.   And eating of course!
Carter was getting a little hungry as well and fortunately he was in luck!  There was a demo called "Eating a Rainbow" that was focused on eating vegetables from Georgia.  Carter and dad immediately grabbed a front row seat.
Carter was probably the youngest kid but he had no problems whipping up an amazing Spring Roll.  I should say mom/dad assumed it was amazing because the little guy wouldn't share any with us.  The boy loves his carrots!
After snack, we played a bit more...
and then it was off for naps for the whole family!

A Couple Whole Family Outings

We had a big Saturday at the Holden House and it didn't involve being at the house.  After gym class and Carter's nap, the entire family headed to the GT Basketball game.  Carter wore his GT track suit (thank you Terek's).
His suit got him in the mood and he entertained us with some cheers before we left.
We got to the game and settled in for a close one.
It was a back and forth game.  Carter kept complete concentration...
despite it being snack time and dad making funny faces.
Parker had fun entertaining the sweet, elderly couple next to us.
The Holden family must have been good luck because Tech won a nail biter.  To celebrate we all went out to our first family dinner since Parker was born.  After dinner, both boys went to bed easy and had good nights sleep.  It was definitely a great Saturday at the Holden house!

Monday = Funday

Monday, mom and dad took the day off work so we could spend the day with our visitors and entertaining the kids.  We started off at Kangazoom, an indoor play center with a bunch of jump houses.  Bailie and Curtis got into the action with a jousting match.
Carter preferred a different type of activity and took advantage of every opportunity to slide....
and slide...
and slide!
In between slides, there was lots of jumping, playing with balls and watching the big kids.  Parker hung out in his car seat and checked out the action in between naps.
After a mid-day nap and lunch, Carter, Bailie and Curtis had a blast playing in the backyard.  So we decided to pack up the kids and head to the playground.  Of course, there was more sliding.
But Carter did expand his horizons and check out the rock climbing wall...
the swings and everything else the playground had to offer!
We eventually had to leave, much to Carter's dismay.
Fortunately Pops was waiting when we got home so Carter was excited to make him read every book on the shelf!
It was a great weekend having Bailie/Curtis here and getting to spend so much time with the family.  We can't wait to do it again soon!

Aunt B and Uncle C

We had a great long weekend visit with Bailie and Curtis.  The boys kept them on their toes so I'm not sure how much of a vacation it was for them.  Here are some random pictures from the weekend.

Bailie and Curtis kindly watched the kids for us so we could go out to dinner.  Carter took the opportunity to wrap someone new into his run into the pillow pile game!
Bailie got lots of snuggle time with all the kids when she wasn't helping with dishes, laundry or picking up.
We had a full house and busy weekend which was lots of fun!

Weekly Recap

Parker (3 months)
Parker spent most of his week focused on growing.  The little piggy is starting to fill out.  He is still pretty skinny but he's getting taller.  Unfortunately, he came down with a cold at the end of the week.  He was very congested and a little sneezy but those have been his only symptoms so far.

Carter (21 months)
Carter is definitely showing he's almost 2 this week.  He can switch between laughing and crying at a moments notice.  It usually happens when he doesn't get what he wants or he is trying to tell us something and we aren't doing what he wants (usually because we have no idea what he is saying!).   He has also decided to start pushing back his bedtime to around 9.  He still wakes up at the normal time so we thing some of his behavior recently is due to crankiness from lack of sleep.

In Carter's romantic life, things have changed a little bit (it's Valentine's week so an update is in order).  Aubrey is still hot and heavy for Carter but the little guy is playing hard to get.  For the past few weeks, Aubrey will see me walking down the hall and start yelling "Carter" (can't see Carter over the pony door).  Then she will come running to to him to give him whatever toy she is playing with or a hug.  Carter usually ignores her and walks right by.   This week we had a note passed to us through Carter's teacher Ms. Jan.  Apparently, Aubrey's parents told her that Aubrey comes home every day and talks about Carter.  She says his name all night long.  I guess Carter is learning this hard-to-get thing at an early age!

Here are some pictures of the boys from this week...

A Burgess Shower

Grandmommy threw a small shower for the future Mr. and Mrs. Burgess while they were in town.  It was a nice evening with the Jones clan full of yummy food (like the cheese wedding cake)...
and good company!
Parker had a great time seeing everyone.  He's like a whole other baby from the last time we hung out with the family at Christmas.
While Parker was chatting things up in the kitchen, Carter played with Uncle Reid.
With the boys occupied, we decided it was time for the main event... the gifts!
Bailie and Curtis did a good job keeping everyone entertained...
well... almost everyone!
There were lots of great gifts and even the obligatory cheesy shower gift.
Don't they make a cute couple???
While the adults opened gifts, Uncle Micheal did a great job keeping Carter busy.  They played on the stairs, ate chips, hung out with Cousin Samantha, climbed in the fridge and spied on the neighbors.
After gifts it was time for dinner.  Carter kept the crown entertained with his musical skills while everyone ate.
After dinner, the boys were ready for bed so we took a few family pictures and headed home.
What a fun night.  We can't wait for the main event in June!
