Saturday at the Holden's

Saturday night we decided to celebrate Colin's big b-day by having a few friends over and watching some basketball. During a break from all the action Colin decided to show off Carter's new trick. It starts with Carter sitting upright... And ends with Carter on the ground. Yes... this might look bad but the kid loves it! He giggles the whole time and Colin catches his head so it's ok.
Baby Charlie came over as well and he was a doll. He spent some time enjoying Carter's old play gym. Carter tried to hold the mirror just right so Charlie could get a good glimpse of himself.
The Carter took the time to tell Charlie about all the fun things he will get to experience over the next few months.
He even showed Charlie how much fun chewing on things is. He was very surprised when mom told him Charlie wasn't quiet ready for that yet. It was a nice evening to spend with some good friends (and babies!).

Hapy Birthday Colin

It can't be true Carter thought....Dad is really 30???? That is crazy!Dad doesn't look a day over 29 ;)Okay, the fun is over. Now give me your crown dad!
Happy Birthday Dad!!!! It's been a fabulous first 30 years and we can't wait to see what the next 30 brings our new family!

Carter the Super Hero

Imagine mom and Carter's surprise when they came downstairs and found poor Morgan being terrified by a neighborhood cat who was avoiding the sun on our front porch.
Morgan did he best to protect her turf...
But she eventually got too scared and retreated to the nearby Dining Room table. Carter immediately "ran" to her side and asked what was wrong. Carter immediately asked what he could do to help and Morgan lowered her head while they came up with a plan.
Carter crawled over to the window where he started with his firm stare down.
Then he showed off his boxing moves.
That was all the cat could take and he immediately ran off down the street. Morgan quickly jumped off the table to make sure she was safe.
The coast looked clear but Carter and Morgan decided to get a higher view to survey the front yard to make sure the danger has passed.
Mom was so surprised Carter was able to make such an immediate impact. She asked Carter how he did it and he showed her his intimidation face. SCARY!
Then Carter took a little while to ponder his next superhero action while making his best Captain Morgan pose....
And Morgan made her way back to enjoy the sun free from that pesky visitor. The Holden's are lucky to have such a wonderful super hero in our house!

Month 10 - Week 3

It was a long week for mom and Carter with dad being out of town and getting use to the time change.
But it wasn't all sleepy. Carter had lots of fun playing and just being a baby. One new activity involves his new fascination, the air vent. He likes to rub his hands on the metal grate and listen to the clangy noise.Carter also continues to be a good eater. He loves to feed himself. His appetite seems to be increasing and his bottle intake is decreasing which is fairly normal for this age.
Carter's favorite foods are anything he can crunch with his top teeth. His middle top teeth are slowly making their way down while his two top incisors are about to pop through.
Luckily for Carter, the weather outside has been nice so he doesn't have to just look through the window anymore. But while he's inside, Carter has two favorite activities. First is riding or walking with his Zebra.

Carter' other love are his books. He absolutely loves turning the pages. His favorite books have bright colors and pictures of baby faces.

It was a fun week with out little guy!

Carter and Dad's New Game

Another week means another new game for dad and Carter. Luckily this one doesn't involve Carter being thrown in the air!

The game starts with dad hiding outside on the porch.
Carter then crawls from window to window...until he thinks he has spotted Dad.Then dad slowly approaches the window.Carter starts smiling immediately. Then the giggles start...And crazy laughter follows! It's all too much for Carter to handle so down he goes. But it doesn't take long before he crawls over to another window to start the game all over!

Repeat about 5 to 10 times and you have Carter's pre-dinner workout!

A Day With the Flowers

With Spring bringing such wonderful weather, Carter, mom and Grandmommy headed over to the Botanical Gardens. Did I mention it was a gorgeous day out!

Carter loves being outside so this was the perfect outing for him. It wasn't long after we arrived that Carter made quick friends with a nice frog.
Then it was off to the Children's Garden for a last afternoon stroll.
Carter came upon a slide on his walk and he decided to give it a try! Too bad for Carter he tried to go up the slide from the bottom...Needless to say it wasn't a very successful method.
Carter had lots of fun checking out all the fun things in the garden.
We even stopped to take a quick height check. Carter wasn't quite up to the Day Lilly quite yet.
It was a wonderful afternoon outing.
It was so fun in fact that Carter fell asleep the moment his head hit the car seat.
It was a very fun afternoon. And for those of you wondering where dad was while all the fun was going on. Unfortunately he was occupied with a different type of outdoor activity.

Month 10 - Week 2

Carter started off the week celebrating the 1st birthday of his pal Julian.
It was a gorgeous day out and we had a blast celebrating. Carter will be turning one before we know it!
Here are some pics of what Carter was up to this week. He spent a lot of time crawling after his sisters.
He even got dad in on the fun with him.
But soon it turned into kids against dad...
Carter loves watching his sisters play. He follows them around and laughs at any noise they make.He also loves to imitate them. He rubs his head on the ground and against us just like the dogs.He also likes to grab their toys and carry them around when mom and dad aren't watching.
As for his eating habits, Carter has found a new obsession: Gerber lil Crunchies. With his two top teeth in, he loves biting them. The kid could eat an entire carton at a sitting if we would let him. He knows what the container looks like and knows how to work mom to get what he wants...He takes his crunchie eating very seriously.
We got a weekly parenting email that gave 5 personality types of babies. Carter qualified as an "Active" baby hands down! I think these pics demonstrate our diagnosis. Here is Carter going down the steps. He is great at going up but the down needs some work!
Playing with balloons...
and walking with Dino (his new favorite activity).
Other than that, Carter is anxiously awaiting the updates to our backyard so he can go out and play with his sisters (like the Jean diapers?).
While waiting to play outside, Carter has really been enjoying his new playroom. Here is Uncle Reid teaching him to play the drums.
And here he is picking a book off the shelf. His favorites are the ones with Baby Faces.
But sometimes playtime gets old and Carter wants out!
What a fun week with baby Carter!
