Second Trimester Update

Tomorrow officially marks the beginning of my 3rd trimester so I figured I would give an update on the 2nd one.

We had several Doctor's visits over the past 3 months all for routine stuff. Everything looks good with the baby. The only minor "hiccups" have been that he is measuring a little small and is breach, but the Dr isn't worried about either issue at this point. The specific events were, first was the AFP test for Spina Bifida at 16 weeks. Next we had our big 20 week Ultrasound and everything looked good. I was surprised at how detailed they are able to get, even measuring blood flow in and out of the heart. The Dr found everything they were looking for so that is good news. Then I took the Glucose Screening test at 24 weeks which involves drinking a really sugary substance in 5 minutes. Luckily I passed that, but I had the shakes for about 4 hours afterwards.

Colin and I spent the past few months getting the nursery ready and preparing for baby. We are about 95% there! We ended up going with a Jungle theme. The starting point was Colin's desire to paint the ceiling to look like the sky. He did it all by himself and even added some clouds to complete the effect. We have also spent most weekends taking trips to Babies 'R Us trying to make sense of all the gear you need for a new child. Trying to pick the perfect car seat, stroller, bottle brand, etc. is extremely overwhelming! Luckily we were able to take a break from all that hard work to head to Savannah for a quick weekend getaway, realizing that it will probably be our last "couple only" trip for a while. It was great to get out of town, especially since we drove out of Atlanta as a snowstorm was hitting the city. Luckily things were sunny in Savannah.

I will post some pictures of the Nursery, Baby Holden and Savannah trip soon!

Future Baby Holden Picture?

I found this picture that Colin and I had done at Dave & Busters 3 or 4 years ago. It might be what kept us from having children earlier =)
