September

September was full of lots of fun!  Dad enjoyed a company trip to Lake Oconee, mom spent some fun time with friends and the kids kept us very busy!

Avery (8 years, 1 month) - Avery started Fall soccer games and has really been enjoying being on a team.  She likes the snacks, the girls and having her brothers come watch her play.  Her favorite position so far is goalie likely because it involves the least amount of running.

Her other hobbies this month have been painting and "watching" her brothers play baseball.

At school, 3rd grade had a "field trip" to learn about fossils and gem mining and several pajama dress up days.

Avery and mom enjoyed a date night to see Disney on Ice to prepare for her big Fall Break Disney cruise.  The theme was Frozen and Encanto so Avery was thrilled.

Parker (10 years, 10 months) - Parker had a fun month which was summed up perfectly by this amazing milkshake he shared with Grandpa!

Parker's class got to lead chapel this month and Parker choose to run the slide show.

On a negative note, Parker and dad had rough weeks with their respective fantasy football teams and both earned Loser of the Week toilets for our front yard.

Most of Parker's free time was taken up by baseball.  His Fall rec team plays twice a week and has been a great group of boys.  Parker has enjoyed the low-key nature of Fall baseball and getting to play some new positions.

His travel team has been very active with a scrimmage and several tournaments.  They were runners up in their first tournament and won the silver bracket in their second one.  Parker has been hitting well and mainly playing catcher.  He really enjoys his team which is great because they spend so much time together!

Carter (12 years, 4 months) - Carter had several fun adventures this month starting with watching GT play Clemson to kick off the football season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with dad.

He started cotillion class and it is adorable to see him get dressed up each week.  Carter isn't as thrilled learning dance moves and etiquette but he does enjoy seeing his friends.

He also went on a fun camping/rafting trip with his Boy Scout Troop where Carter had to serve as chef for a day.  He said the rafting was fun and the cooking went ok.

Siblings - The boys continue to get Avery from school on their dirt bikes when their schedule allows and Avery loves it!

And as is the norm most warm months, the kiddos also spent several weekends at baseball fields together.

Savannah Bananas Game

The basis for our trip to Tybee was to see a Savannah Bananas game.  Thankfully we were able to snag tickets through their group department as the seats sold out before they ever went on sale to the public.  The Savannah Bananas are a minor league baseball team that has become a recent viral sensation.  Outside their regular games, they play "Banana Ball" games which involve their own set of rules designed to make the game faster paced and highly entertaining.  They play their arch rival, the Party Animals, which is comprised of college and minor league players off for the late summer.  With 3 families of baseball loving dads and boys, they were all super excited for the opportunity!

Most of us decided to go with the theme and wear banana outfits.  The boys also enjoyed wearing their banana hats around the house.

The stadium is open seating and all-you-can-eat, so we got to the game early to make sure we got good seats and ended up in a prime spot to watch the opening parade and pre-game show.
Banana Gran Cheer Squad

Once the gates opened we grabbed prime seats, loaded up on ballpark food and banana soda and enjoyed the pregame festivities.  The game was their final one of this season so it was an extra festive atmosphere with non-stop activities.

Once the game started, the fun continued.  There was great music, banana ball dog, first baseman on stilts, crazy antics on and off the field.  It was all very entertaining and the game flew by.

After the game we hung out in the pavilion for a while where music played and the players signed autographs.  The girls were very into the autographs and had to be torn away to leave.

It was definitely a fun experience.  Hopefully their 2023 tour will take them near Atlanta so we can see them again!
