January at School

Carter had a good month learning about social issues in reading, conjunctions in grammar, literary essays in writing, decimals in math and the Revolutionary War in social studies.  In Science he learned about Volcano's and his class took a filed trip to the High Museum.

Parker also got to take a field trip to the High Museum this month.  Otherwise he has been working on lots of small group projects with his class which he seems to enjoy.  Parker has been super excited to get to school early and go to brain gym whenever he can.

Avery had several fun events at school this month.  First was a Glow Run which was for a school fundraiser.  Avery raised money for each lap she ran around the school gym.  The kids all had a blast and Avery's class raised the most money in the school.  That got them some fun prizes like dress-up days, extra recess and they even got to turn the school principal into an ice cream sundae.

Next was the 100th day of school.  Kindergarten dressed up like they were 100 years old and had a parade around the school.  Each child had to bring in a collection of 100 things.  Avery chose to make a poster with 100 pictures of herself on it.  She also brought in 100 pretzels to make trail mix.  And her teacher made them all pictures of what they will look like when they are 100 years old!

January

We had a fun parent outing in January with some friends to go glass blowing.  And mom had fun dressing up for the gym to ward off the winter blues.

Avery (5 years, 5 months) - Avery is still the fire cracker in the family.  She is doing a performing arts class after school once a week and the highlight maybe the carpool on the way there and home with her neighborhood buddies.  We went to a few Lovett basketball games this month and since Avery wore her cheerleader outfit to one of them, she got to stand with the cheerleaders to help welcome the team to the court.  Avery's favorite game lately has been Guess Who.  She always picks one of the same 3 cards so her game playing skills need some work.

Parker (8 years, 2 months) - Parker was solo for cotillion this month as Carter had a conflict but he enjoyed learning some new dance moves and how to eat soup.  He is super into Fortnite at the moment and would be playing that all day if allowed.

Carter (9 years, 8 months) - Carter is also into video games at the moment but has been really enjoying the kindle he got for Christmas as well.  His travel baseball team increased practices this month which he is still really enjoying and is looking forward to the Spring season.

Siblings - In big news, both boys got Invisalign this month.  They are clear trays that act like braces.  Hopefully there will be more room in their mouth by this time next year!  The boys also continued   lacrosse which they have enjoyed mainly because they are playing with their buddies.  And the weather here has been quite warm for winter so when it isn't raining they have been enjoying getting outside in the backyard.
