January at School

Carter had a good month learning about social issues in reading, conjunctions in grammar, literary essays in writing, decimals in math and the Revolutionary War in social studies.  In Science he learned about Volcano's and his class took a filed trip to the High Museum.

Parker also got to take a field trip to the High Museum this month.  Otherwise he has been working on lots of small group projects with his class which he seems to enjoy.  Parker has been super excited to get to school early and go to brain gym whenever he can.

Avery had several fun events at school this month.  First was a Glow Run which was for a school fundraiser.  Avery raised money for each lap she ran around the school gym.  The kids all had a blast and Avery's class raised the most money in the school.  That got them some fun prizes like dress-up days, extra recess and they even got to turn the school principal into an ice cream sundae.

Next was the 100th day of school.  Kindergarten dressed up like they were 100 years old and had a parade around the school.  Each child had to bring in a collection of 100 things.  Avery chose to make a poster with 100 pictures of herself on it.  She also brought in 100 pretzels to make trail mix.  And her teacher made them all pictures of what they will look like when they are 100 years old!
