Sullivan's Island - Day 2

The weather forecast called for on-and-off rain most of the week so today we decided to hit up the Yorktown, a large aircraft carrier that saw service from WWII to Vietnam.  Colin insisted that the boys really wanted to go but we all knew who was really the most excited!  On our way off the island, we got stuck at the draw bridge so we all got out to watch the boats pass.
Once we got to the ship, we started at the top where the boys had a blast running around and checking out the planes.
Parker splashed in every puddle!
Carter even took a turn operating the anti-aircraft gun.
Before he was off to drive the boat.
And Parker took a turn in the spotter chair.
Soon the rain came so we headed inside for lunch.
Colin was really excited to eat on the ship and have an authentic navy meal.

Parker wasn't going to let the rain dampen his spirits!
After we toured the inside of the boat, we headed outside to check out the submarine and destroyer.  And Parker found more puddles to explore.
Soon it was time for naps so we all headed home.
After naps, it was a bit rainy so Carter passed time calling his friends.
And Parker took CDs in and out of the cabinet and smiled.
When things cleared up, Dad and Carter took a ride on the golf cart to the marsh to check out the wildlife.
It was another busy day of vacation!

Sullivan's Island - Day 1

For our annual 4th of July trip this year, we planned to hit up every body of water possible starting with a trip to our favorite beach house on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.  The boys had been looking forward to this for weeks and were ready to hit the road!
Traveling with 2 toddlers isn't easy but we survived!
We woke up early Saturday morning and the boys immediately wanted to go to the beach.
So we all packed in the golf cart and obliged.
Parker wasn't quite so sure what to make of all the sand and refused to put his feet down.
Eventually he agreed to try it out.
And gave the water a shot as well.
Carter on the other hand took off immediately.  He smiled the entire time.
Watching the fish
Staring down the waves.
Showing off his tough boy face to the waves.
Parker meanwhile took comfort with mom, enjoyed the breeze and did a little splashing of his own.
After a quick lunch we decided to try out the other water option, the pool.  Parker LOVED the shallow end.
And Carter ran and jumped in all day long.
After naps, dad took the boys on a quick bike ride.
Before we headed to the park before dinner.
For dinner, we hit up the annual island Fish Fry supporting the island fire and rescue department and the boys passed out.  It was a great first day at the beach!

Late June Pictures

Parker (19 months)
Toddlerhood is such a blast!  Parker is at such an adorable age.  He is a smiling maniac, loves to give affection and acts like the cutest little man.  He is very curious about new things.  His favorite activities are making sure everything is in its proper place, copying his big brother and splashing in water.

Here are some pictures of the smiley guy...

Brothers
Catching Carter in a picture is an impossible feat these days.  He is much too busy and important to stop for mom to take a picture.  So here are some pictures of the boys.

We had our two neighbors over for a day while their parents helped the movers pack up.  The boys had a blast each having playmates over.  We took all 4 to lunch and the park.
Parker insisted on holding Harper's hand whenever they crossed the parking lot.
Carter has been really into building with his blocks lately.  This day he built a stadium including a scoreboard, stands for all the animals and Little People and a parking lot for "a lot a lot a lot of cars".
We have also been working on prepping Carter to move out of his crib.  He isn't really excited about the idea so we went to iKEA to let him "pick out" a bed (we already have a toddler conversion kit for his crib).  This one was his favorite so he and Parker took it for a test drive.
And since it is summer, we have been spending some time at the pool.  Carter loves the water and Parker is starting to come around as well.  He does best when being held by daddy.
