February at School

Carter had several fun events at school this month.  First his class got to lead Chapel.  The kids planned the whole service and picked the theme "Palentine's Day".  Carter choose to help shoot and edit some videos for the Theologian's thought and he interviewed Parker as his subject.  Next he got to go on a field trip with the Lower School band to learn about the culture and music of New Orleans  They saw a fire show, made canvas art, learned about the history of jazz, made mardi gras masks and had king cake.  He also had a fun class party for Valentine's Day!

Mom and dad got to come help with Parker's class Valentine's Day party.  We did crafts, had snacks and played a bingo game mom made.  Parker has been working hard on his reading stamina lately and it seems to be paying off!

After all the activity in January, February was back to the books for Avery.  She has been working hard on her math and subtraction facts and she started spelling tests as well.  She had a week off for Winter Break so it was a short school month!

Disney Fun - Parks

Other than rides and characters, we fit in some additional fun at the parks.  Epcot was having their annual Arts Festival which included art themed photo booths which Avery insisted we take advantage of.  We also made sure to take a picture in our regular spot at World Showcase.  And while we didn't see them in the park, we were able to watch the Epcot fireworks from out hotel room several nights.

For our first at Magic Kingdom, Avery picked out matching shirts and ears for us to wear so we made sure to get several classic castle photos.  We also made it to Mickey's Royal Friendship Fare show, the Move It Shake It Dance Party and the Parade.  Avery ran out of steam just before dinner so we headed back for a lazy dinner at the hotel.

Lots of walking at Animal Kingdom means lots of photo ops for Avery!  The only show Avery wanted to see here was The Lion King and it was wonderful as always!  We left the park right around dinner time and Avery was too beat to stop for food so we ended up checking out the food market at the hotel and having a picnic in the room.

Day 2 at Magic Kingdom was mainly about rides and characters but we made sure to get some pictures by the purple wall.  And Avery insisted on several photos by her favorite Little Mermaid ride.  She also discovered the eating area at Pinocchio Village Haus that overlooks the Small World ride and spent and exorbitantly long time holding up various signs for the riders below.  We capped off the evening with the firework show which was wonderful!

After a week of 80 degree weather, high of 50 with 20mph winds made for some tough moments at Hollywood Studios.  But it also meant smaller crowds and thankfully there were lots of indoor shows for us to see.  Avery loved The Little Mermaid and Frozen Sing A-Long.  We had big plans to see Fantasmic and even got a blanket to help but it was just too windy for Avery when we got up to the theater so we headed back to the hotel and had a dessert picnic instead.
