January

January was a pretty crazy month between holidays, several days off school for weather, sports in full swing and trying to get back to a normal schedule.  Dad has been able to fit in Racquetball weekly and mom got in some girls time too.  With all that, January seemed to fly by!

Avery (3 years, 5 months) - Avery is still our wild child!  She is always active and energetic though she has been showing a very loving side recently with lots of hugs and a "good morning kiss" every day.  She wants nothing more than to be around people - begging daily for play dates and sleepover with her best friends or brothers.  She also despises being left out and wants to participate in whatever her brothers are doing (including joining in with every post-game basketball handshake).  Avery prefers to wear nothing but princess dresses, preferably accessorized with hats, glasses and beads.

Parker (6 years, 2 months) - Parker has really come into his own over the past month or so.  He has become very self assured and outspoken.  He has also taken to physical activities including doing "Parkour" from one side of the family room to the other.  He is enjoying basketball and doing a better job weathering the bumps and bruises that come with a physical game.  He is a doting big brother to Avery and puts up with lots of her craziness!

Carter (7 years, 8 months) - Carter has done great transitioning back to a normal schedule after his crazy December.  He is loving basketball and had a blast at his Cub Scout pack's Pinewood Derby.  He also had a fun video game sleepover for his best buddy's birthday.

Siblings - while they may scream and fight with each other, the kids have been really enjoying hanging out together (which is great during the cold indoor winter!).  They have had lots of fort building, movie nights, art projects and trips to Waffle House together.

January at School

Carter started several new units at school that he is really enjoying - geometry and letter writing.  He has even decided to ask his friend Jake to be his Pen Pal so he can practice his writing.  He has also really taken to reading lately and likes to come from from school or stay up late with a new book.  Here is his 2017-2018 class picture.

Parker had a really fun month... he got to be Lion of the week which meant he brought something from home everyday to talk about (Hatchimals, stuffed lion, trophy, family tree and a book).  Dad was his Mystery Reader and read the class a cool pirate book.  Mom chaperoned his trip to the High Museum.  And the class celebrated Three Kings Day.  There was also learning through play with snowman, blocks and more.  Parker continues to love Kindergarten and it's easy to see why!

Avery learned all about the weather, snow and hibernation this month.  She has also been on a Magnatile kick lately and always chooses them during center time.  Though her favorite part of the day is Dance Party time!
