January gave us a little bit of snow but a lot of ice which created lots of weekend logistical challenges. But thankfully we were still able to fit a lot in.

Avery (11 years, 5 months) - Avery had several big events this month. First she was inducted into Beta Club for Middle School. It is an Academic and service-based club. Next, she had her first band concert. Avery started playing the flute this year and has really been enjoying it. Finally, Avery had her Sound of Music performance. She loved being with the cast and had fun trying being on the stage but she decided she prefers doing technical crew better.

Parker (14 years, 2 months) - Parker finished up his wrestling season and celebrated with the huge group of 8th graders on the team. Unfortunately the end-of-season tournament was canceled due to weather but he had a strong year, losing one middle school match (his first match of the season) and going 50/50 in his JV matches.

Carter (15 years, 8 months) - Carter was finally able to get back to wrestling in January. He missed the last tournament and sat out for the first round of state duels. But he cheered the team on and was able to rejoin the squad for the State Duels tournament. Being his first tournament back, there were some nerves all around about how his knee would handle it but thankfully he felt great. He went 4-0 on the weekend with 3 pins and a forfeit, having to wrestle for less than 2 minutes. Overall the team finished in the top 8 and is looking forward to coming back stronger next season. Up next was the Traditional tournament. Lovett hosted the area round and all 14 wrestlers qualified for the next round, Sectionals.

Siblings - The kids fit in a few Georgia Tech basketball games in January (easy to get seats when they are terrible).
