The end of the Thrillerdome

Last Sunday was the final game for Georgia Tech at their basketball coliseum, commonly called the Thrillerdome. In addition to the game there were a number of pregame festivities making it a very big day. Before the Holden family headed off to the coliseum, Carter and Dad started reading the Toy Story read along on our new iPad. The book mixes some small animations with the normal words, keeping Carter's attention throughout the whole story.

Then we were off to Alexander Memorial Coliseum to watch Tech take on Miami! When we arrived at the coliseum there was a shinny looking old car that grabbed Carter's attention (although Carter has seen this car a few times before, his recollection skills are not yet the most refined).

After checking out the details of the car, Carter decided to take a seat on the running boards and start flirting with the local people as they entered the gates to the coliseum.

The pre-game festivities included a video montage of the history of the coliseum (also hosted all the boxing events for the 1996 Summer Olympics), and spent time honoring this years seniors in their final game.

Here is the tip-off of the final game

The game started at 2:30pm, which is Carter's normal afternoon nap time. About 15minutes into the 1st half Carter's eyes started to get baggy and his excitement started to wane.

Luckily Dad's chest provided a nice bed for a nap while the half ended and second half started.

Tech went into the second half losing by eight points, but quickly turned it around and won convincingly. All the excitement of the game was more than Carter could continue and he passed out int he car (it was a very quiet ride home).
