Sullivan's Island 2014 - Boat Trip

The boys were really excited about all the boats around the island so they talked mom and dad into taking them on a boat ride.  We decided a guided nature tour was better than renting a boat this go round and we were right.  We spent 3-1/2 hours cruising the inter-coastal, checking out wildlife and visiting Capers Island.  The guides were great and put up with Carter who didn't leave their side.  He had a million questions and they answered all of them.

We saw lots of fish, crabs, birds, dolphins and even loggerhead turtles.  The boys has so much fun they wanted to go back again the next day.  Here are some pictures of the fun.
Boat outfits - So excited to go!
Antsy waiting to take off.  Parker asked to hold Carter's hand
They had two crap traps out and the kids got to help pull them up.  Carter was very excited to volunteer to help.
Parker even helped pull in the crab trap line
The traps all had success.
Mrs Courtney showing off the crabs - we caught blue crabs, hermit crabs, and stone crabs including a pregnant one with a large orange egg sack on her belly (they put them all back in the marsh).
Holding a hermit crab we caught
Carter was game to touch the crabs
Parker... not so much
Watching for dolphins - we probably passed 10-12 on the boat ride
Checking out a fish we caught
More dolphin spotting... and a few turtles
Carter's favorite beach food... the shrimp
Checking out a ghost crab we found on Capers Island.  The little guy was very defensive
Carter insisted on walking the beach next to our guide, Mrs Courtney
Playing in the water at the "Bone-yard" - names for all the trees in the background
He loves holding crabs
We found a nice log and the boys wanted a rest
Running back to the boat!
After the island hike probably two miles or so round trip, Parker and Carter were spent.  It was a great time, the boys' attention was constantly held by our guides and they really did learn some things (as they accurately told everyone they saw at the beach afterwards all about the animals we learned about).
