Sullivan's Island - 4th of July

We went to Sullivan's Island for the 4th this year with the Gomez family.  Our day started early with the annual golf cart parade.  We had two carts this year and went for over the top Americana with one and a funny cart - Dunkin' Donuts (basketball goal on the back) for the second.

After parading down the island with 75 of our best golf cart friends we ended up at the Fish Fry shack for Kona Ice, refreshments and even a cool down courtesy of the local fire department.  

Some people go all out for this event.  The first place cart was Hamilton themed with an escort from 6 "horse" bikes.  We felt very bad for this group as they were all dressed in full period apparel.  Second place went to a fully functional replica tank.

That evening we enjoyed music downtown on the island followed by a firework display.  It was a late night and Avery fell asleep sitting up in the golf cart on the way home!
