December at School

Carter started off the month with his first M&M performance.  The M&Ms is a singing group for Lovett 3rd and 4th grade boys.  They meet weekly before school and do a few performances during the year.  They performed 5 songs in the Lower School Choral concert and 2 at the Lower School Sing-a-long on the last day of school.  Carter also performed with his general music class in the Lower School Winter Musical, Dear Santa.  His class sang "I want to go to Hawaii".  Other fun activities included a class holiday party and a shopping trip to Target to buy gifts with the money the kids raised during their Read-a-thon for some children the class adopted.  Carter also got to do the "All About Me" board and picked lots of fun pictures of family trips, activities and his various sports teams.  Last, Carter's cub scout den had a super fun marbles adventure.  He said it was the best meeting yet!

Parker got in lots of holiday fun this month with a class holiday activity where mom and Mimi joined to help the kids make ornaments for their class tree.  The first graders also celebrated Hanukkah with a special morning of activities including making their own edible dreidels.  And he ended the month with a grade-wide Polar Express pajama day and a class holiday party.

Avery also got in of lots of holiday fun!  She started the month being a chapel helper for the second time this year.  Parker was nervous she was going to hurt herself carrying a candle but she did great (and it wasn't lit).  Avery finished up her 1st semester clubs making Christmas Tree waffles and gingerbread houses in cooking club and having a tee party in Fancy Nancy club.  Then it was onto the big stuff... Avery performed 3 songs in the Preschool Holiday Performance.  She had Grinch Day and dressed up like Cindy Who.  There was Pajama Day and finally they had their holiday party where Mimi and mom both came to volunteer!
Sprinkling 'Grinch Dust' she made in the yard so the Grinch won't steal our Christmas decorations

Atlanta United: MLS Champs

When Atlanta United won the MLS Championship this year, we decided the rarity of an Atlanta Sports team winning a championship required we all had to go to the parade!  This was the second major sports league championship 60 years (Atlanta Hawks won in 1958) after the Braves in 1995.  We took one of Carter's good friends with us and braved the weather to cheer on the team.  The boys were even interviewed on our local CBS station.  It was a fun, rowdy event with lots of cheering and celebration!

Also, dad actually went to the Championship game ;)  He said it was fairly incredible!

Santa Visit - Round 4

For what is probably our last trip to Santa, we visited with the man in red at our neighborhood clubhouse.  The kids made more lists, thankfully comprised of items from previous ones, and enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate.  They also made decorations for a wagon for a local children's hospital.
