7 Months - Week 2

That's right Carter, you are 1 week old and 1 week closer to Christmas!
It was a fun week with Carter. He is really showing all the pre-crawl signs now. He will push himself up on all fours when he's on his belly. He loves to do this first thing in the morning. For some reason he no longer wants to be on his back while on his changing table, this makes for some interesting diaper changes. Once he is on all fours, he will rock back and forth for a while. And push his legs out. He just hasn't quite figured out how to move the hands forward. So after a few rocks he usually rolls back on his belly and grabs whatever is near. Usually his sock. We have been practicing his arm reaches to get him ready to crawl. He is getting quite good.We have been working hard on those stretches because it often seems like all Carter wants to do is walk. His favorite activity is scooting around in his car.He has even gotten good at going up the stairs... And down the stairs He lifts his legs up all the way to reach the next step and moves them down on his own. He always has a big grin when showing off his walking skills.

Someone who isn't too sure about all this potential baby movement is the dogs. Madie and Brie are pretty wary of the little guy becoming mobile. But they still love their little brother (and he loves them).

Beside his crawling/walking skills, Carter spent the week becoming a musical prodigy. Luckily he has dad around to show him how to play the piano (don't forget Colin was a masterful Cello player in High School =)Carter loves providing some musical entertainment while we eat dinner. It's nice to see all that hand banging he has been doing has finally come in handy.Speaking of hand movement, Carter is becoming better at feeding himself. He hasn't mastered his pincer grab but he is doing well with his biscuits and wheels. It was a fun week with the little guy and we can't wait for his first Christmas in just 1 week!
