Polar Express Train Ride

We decided to surprise the kids with a ride on the Polar Express.  We figured they were at the right age as a group to enjoy it and a great way to get everyone in the Holiday spirit.  We left right after school and headed to Bryson City, NC where the Great Smokey Mountain Railway boards.  We were able to grab dinner, slip into our pajamas, and check out some of the Holiday fun before it was time to board.
After getting our golden tickets punched, the ride started with hot chocolate and cookies while the whole train read the Polar Express story on our way to the North Pole.  On the way back home, Santa came with sleigh bells for everyone.  It was a bit corny/touristy at times but Parker proclaimed it "almost the best day of my life" and the kids asked enthusiastically to do it again next year despite their exhaustion!
