Hollywood Studios - Part II

When we went to Hollywood Studios our first park day, we were very disappointed to not get a boarding pass to the newest Star Wars ride Rise of the Resistance.  While we were there, we met with one of Carter's good school buddies Graham, whose family was able to get on the ride.  Their report back, as well as one of Carter's Slammers teammates (who we didn't see but was at Disney the same week) was that the ride was most definitely worth a return try.  To get a boarding pass, you have to be on the Disney app on your phone right at 7:00am and select the boarding pass.  You have to be quick and have a good connection, as they fill up within a fraction of a second.  This time we decided to see if Mom would have better luck on our home Wi-Fi as opposed to the hotel Wi-Fi we were using which wasn't as fast.  Good News! she snagged the three of us a pass and we were back to Hollywood Studios.

As we had just been there two days prior, we took more time to really explore as there was less need to run from line to line.  We did head to Toy Story Land first again, this time Slinky Dog was down due a very brief rain shower.  We took one ride on the Alien Saucers and then saw they were testing the ride, Dad decided to take a gamble and get in line, even though the cast members were telling us they had no idea how long it would take.  Well, about three minutes later, they announced the ride was open and Parker and Carter were customers number 1 and 2 for the day.

We then headed back to Galaxy's Edge and Parker decided he wanted to spend his own money and build a custom remote control droid.  He picked out all the parts...

Took it to the assembly station (equipped with a power drill and instructor)...

And walked away the proud owner of his very own droid.  The droid has its own remote, but also can be controlled via phone app.  What is really neat is how it is Bluetooth enabled and interacts with other droids and areas of Star Wars land while we were there.  A very neat experience and cool to see the creative things they do at Disney.

Finally our boarding call was announced and we headed to Rise of the Resistance.  We all agreed that it was a very cool ride and worth the return trip.  The ride combines many different types of ride technology in a way we haven't seen prior.  Somewhat like the Harry Potter rides at Universal Studios, but done even better given the scale and combination of how those technologies were used.

After the ride, the boys were a bit tired being three straight days in the park.  They did a quick bit of pin trading at the front of the park and then we hit up the pool at our hotel.

Once the boys had their fill, we decided to find dinner somewhere and headed to the Swan and Dolphin hotel via skyliner then water taxi.  After dinner we got huge milkshakes topped with cupcakes from Beaches and Cream ice cream shop before calling it a night.
