Cruising to Alaska

We spent 7 nights on the ship Ovation of the Seas from Royal Caribbean.  It was the kids first Royal Caribbean cruise and the first in quite a while for mom and dad.  The ship was perfect for our families as it was build for family cruising in Alaska.  It is huge and had lots of activities for the kids including a Sports Complex with bumper cars, roller skating, ping pong and video games.  There was also and adult pool area, various restaurants and several entertainment videos.

We spent our first day getting acclimated to the ship...

Before taking advantage of the activities for the rest of the week.  The kids spent most of their time in the SeaPlex with regular trips to the buffet below and ice cream machine on the pool deck.

The adults also got in on some fun at the SeaPlex with Colin playing in the Adult dodgeball game and everyone trying bumper cars.

There were lots of other activities for the kids as well...
On the Northstar - viewing platform that rises up and over the ship

There is an iFly Flight Simulator on the ship

Avery showing off her dance moves
Singing Wagon Wheel at Karaoke
Frozen Karaoke with kids in the audience
Carter was asked to dance
More karaoke

And occasionally they were willing to hang out with their parents...
Ladies in the Conga line
Silent Disco party
Duet of "Call Me Maybe"
But we usually embarrassed them!

With the kids choosing dinner at the buffet almost every night and full on all that ice cream, we were able to try many of the Specialty Dining opportunities on the ship.  The best food was definitely the Chef's Table which was a 7 course meal for 12 people.  Wonderland was the most interesting with lots of molecular gastronomy on display.  The Lavender Daiquiris were hands down the best drink of the week.
Before they poured  warm caramel to melt the chocolate ball
Tiffany told the staff it was our wedding anniversary
Avery came to visit us for dessert and they brought her one as well

And had some fun at adult activities as well - we played about 8 rounds of various trivia games and finally won our last time!
Look who we found in the elevator!
Trivia winnings... zipper pulls!
Trivia winner group high five

It was a great trip and so glad we were able to make it happen!
