Disney Day 3 - Animals, Luaus and Babies - Oh My!

Day three at the parks was a big group outing to the Animal Kingdom. Not only were we there with Grandma and Grandpa, but Great Grandma Cook, Uncles Ken and Jerry, Aunts Marry and Kay, and little cousins Hannah and Joel all made the group outing. It started as a bit chilly morning so we made sure to keep Carter warm and toasty as he was unable to generate his own heat by running around as exhibited by Joel in the bottom right below.

After the short walk from the bus, we were at the park and ready to go.

All the parks still had their Christmas trees and decorations up. We waited here as Grandma was issued her wheel chair.

Then off to the park, but not too fast to the rides, needed a picture in front of the Tree of Life first.

Then off to Carter's first safari adventure. He was very excited to take his first trip to Africa. Especially the 0 minute wait to get there, much better than air travel these days.

We saw all sorts of fun animals on our safari tour, including Rhinos...

giraffes, okapis, elephants...

ostriches, warthogs, and lions.

Carter had alot of fun on his first safari adventure, but was excited to be done as he was ready to head to Asia and watch Mom and Dad take on the towering heights of Mt. Everest (who knew the mountain had a roller coaster)?

Unfortunately, our day was cut short by rain, but this may have been a blessing in disguise as Carter was able to rest up for the fun still to come in the evening.

After our naps we were off to Ohana's at the Polynesian Resort for a big family dinner for 15. Carter had a good time entertaining himself on the rattan furniture as we waited for our table to be readied.

No only was the food great, but there were hula lessons as well. Grandma and Carter were front and center when the dancing started.

Carter was charged with keeping up with the music and making sure Grandma was doing the right moves (he was also charged with finding the best way to wear a lei).

The night ended while we watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks as we finished our desert at Ohana's and then off to bed again with another fun day to come.

  1. Carter is one lucky guy to be visiting the most magical place on earth so early in life... I'm jealous of the little man! I'm glad he (and the rest of the family) look like they are having so much fun though :)
