Music Class

This week we started a new weekend activity with Carter... Music Class on Sunday morning. He LOVES music and dancing so we figured this is right up his alley. Plus it's an indoor activity we can do that fits his lunch/nap schedule (11:00 lunch and 11:30-2:30 nap).

Since it was the first week, I decided to tag along with Parker and watch the action. Class started with the teacher handing out our CDs and song books for the session. We were given "homework" to listen to the songs and review the chords each week. The teacher talked about chords and macro/micro beats. Class was a bit more intense in the music training than we anticipated =)

The rest of class involved singing various songs, dancing/moving along with them and playing with various musical instruments. Carter wasn't too sure what was going on all the time but dad had a blast! I tried to subtly take a few pictures so they aren't the best but I think they show off the action.

Here is dad showing Carter how to work the scarf.
Carter got a little confused and thought it was time for peek-a-boo.
Dad did a great job acting out the "shake your sillies" part of this song.
The last activity before the goodbye song involved letting the kids pick whatever they wanted to play from a large number of instruments choices. Carter made sure to get in the middle of things so he got exactly what he wanted.
In case you couldn't guess, he picked out a drum and rhythm sticks to bang on it.Parker enjoyed class as well ;) Ok he looked like this the entire time!
Carter seemed to have fun so we'll go back next week... as long as he does his homework ;)
