Independence Day

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Carter has been practicing for this day all week.  We have been watching qualifying for the Olympics so Carter made good use of his American flags by waving them and chanting "USA" all over the house.
The chant sounds more like "Ooh-Ooh-A" but it's the thought that counts, right?

For the 4th, we started the celebration early by joining in on the annual Island parade.  Dad and David decorated the bike and golf cart the night before.  Dad took the bike with the boys in the back.
While the rest of us took the golf cart.
Parker immediately passed out while Carter enjoyed the festive decorations.
Parker woke up once the bike stopped and was a bit confused by all the activity.
We got there just in time to enjoy the National Anthem and get lined up.  There were a ton of golf carts and our decorations paled in comparison.
Soon we were off.  The parade route was just the right length.  There were lots of locals who came out to watch and celebrate the holiday.  Lots of floats had candy that they shared.  We preferred to share our smiles and cute kids!
The parade ended at the Fish Fry Shack where there were inflatables, snacks and Mimosa's.  There was a best decoration contest and here is the winning golf cart.
Carter was worn out from all the waving so he grabbed a big slice of watermelon and took a turn in the jump house.
Before long we headed home to put the kids to sleep.  Parker wasn't able to wait until we got home to start his nap.
We spent the rest of the day participating in general shenanigans at the house...
The kids were all exhausted and completely slept through the fire works.  Earlier in the day, we took the opportunity to grab a few holiday pictures of the boys...

Happy Independence Day everyone!
