Avery's First Evening

After their naps, the boys were extremely excited to put on their big brother shirts and head to meet their new sister.  They did a little impromptu dance show in the hallway at the hospital on their way to meet her.  After the dance Carter had to remind us that we were supposed to be quiet at the hospital.  Of course, he was yelling the instructions.
But first they had to get checked by the nurse to make sure they were in tip-top "big brother" shape.  This included getting their hands sanitized and their temperatures checked.
Avery was exhausted after her arrival which was a good thing because her brothers had a lot of energy to spare.
They were so cute - one did a move and the other had to copy.  These two are awesome!
The boys quickly calmed down once Dad asked if they wanted to hold their sister.  Big brother Carter was up first.  As he held her he kept saying "she's a cutie".
Followed by the newest big brother... Parker.  Parker was adorable and couldn't keep his eyes off her face as he held her.
The boys were very loving with Avery and spent sometime fascinated by the new baby and snuggling with mom.
Avery had to take a trip to the nursery to see the Pediatrician so the boys insisted on escorting her... sister has two protective big brothers already.  Parker entertained the nurse with his stories of how Avery was his baby and how she came from his belly.
Once Avery was back everyone celebrated with pink cake-pops.
And the siblings exchanged some gifts.
Before it was time for the boys to head home.
Sweet Parker wanted one last look and to give sister a kiss
Dad then got the honors of the first diaper change...  IT was a biggie!
Before we settled in for the night.
We slept as well as one can in a hospital.  Avery was still in her newborn sleep state so she was pretty easy to manage.  Hopefully we can say that for a while to come!
