Parker's Birthday Trip

For Parker's birthday we decided to take a quick family trip.  Carter had been talking about his birthday trip to Disney and mom/dad have been super busy lately so this seemed like a great idea!  We asked Parker where he wanted to go and he said "Splash" so we decided on Great Wolf Lodge (outside Charlotte).   Carter was really pumped for the trip and is a silly mood on the way up there.  We caught him with his socks on his hands about an hour into the trip.
We weren't sure what to expect when we got there but the hotel was nice, we had a huge room (2 bedrooms plus a sitting area), there were lots of activities for the kids and the water park felt clean.  The boys decided they wanted to go swimming immediately, so they suited up!
Carter jumped right in when we got there and enjoyed the toddler area.
Parker was much more timid and preferred being held to avoid any water getting splashed on his face.
We spent several hours checking out all the slides and play areas.  Carter had no fear and went on everything he could including some solo body slides and the wave pool.
He wanted to hang in the inter tube just like the big kids.
And we couldn't leave before Dad had an opportunity to stand directly under the dump bucket.  Parker had a complete meltdown watching dad.  Carter found it hilarious.
After the waterpark, we took advantage of the other activities the resort had to offer including the arcade and bowling alley.  Bowling was a huge hit with the boys.  Though Parker just loved rolling balls down the gutter.  He could have cared less about hitting an actual pin.  We played several times and several more times just rolling extra balls down the lanes.
We also did a little shopping, went to the arcade...
visited the balloon artist..
saw the magician (front row of course)..
And read a bed-time story with the hotel characters...
before passing out.
The next morning we joined in the daily Wolf Walk around the lobby.  The kids learn about different animals displayed in the lodge and learn how they all walk/talk.  Carter stood by the leader the whole time and answered every question.  I'm sure she loved it ;)
We were then really excited to meet up with the Dixon's who drove over for the day!  With three crazy kids, we didn't take a lot of pictures but the boys had a blast playing with Hailey, especially Humpty Dumpty.  And mom/dad appreciated some adult talk!  Plus we were able to take turns watching the kids so the rest of the group could go down the slides.
Overall it was a fun weekend.  We will definitely come back again when the boys are a few years older so they can enjoy more of the park.  But we are glad we did it!  And hopefully Parker had a great time.
Either way he was exhausted by the end!

Happy early birthday littlest man!
