Big Kid School

Today was Carter's first day at Oxford Academy.  He said good bye to his teachers and Oxford Babies on Friday...
And the whole family hung around to see him off on his first day.  Carter wanted to enjoy a breakfast at the big table and watch for cars/trucks outside.
Oxford has two buildings; one for the babies and one for preschool  Carter has been with the babies since he started.  He has gone through 5 rooms and is ready to start the 2 year program.  He and Parker were excited and sad about the move.
The preschool building is about 100 yards down the street from the babies building.  Carter had never been there before so mom/dad were a bit nervous about how he would react.  We talked up the move for a week before hand.   On Monday, we drove to babies like normal and took Parker inside.  Carter carried in Parker's bottles, gave them to his teacher and ran off towards his old classroom.  We stopped him and told him he had to get back in the car.  He was quite confused but went along fine.  When we got to the preschool, we both took him inside.  We walked to his new room and one of teachers took him over to see the fire truck playhouse.  Carter said "Good-Bye" and went to play.  And that was it.  No tears, clinging or fear.  Our little guys is growing up!

Carter had a great first day.  He gets a report each day that lists all their activities.  It is colors week so they colored rainbows, practiced their colors and read some stories about rainbows.  They also had music time, phonics, math, language, etc.  Their behavior focus for the week is sitting on the bums in their chairs.  They also start potty training so Carter is sitting on a potty 4 times a day.
It was a great first day.  Hopefully the rest of the week will go just as well!
