ROAD TRIP!!!

In anticipation of Carter's three month birthday, we decided to head to Grandpa Scott's house in Sullivan's Island, South Carolina (small barrier island on the north side of Charleston Harbor) to see his grandparents, Aunt Bailie (Aunt B), and Common-law Uncle Curtis. So on Wednesday we loaded up the car with two suite cases for mom and dad, and enough stuff for Carter to block the view out the rear window of our SUV (Carter was well equipped). It was a relatively easy ride, but things did get exciting when we all noticed that the nice people of South Carolina put up a sign welcoming Carter on his first trip to their fine state.
A few pictures later, we were back on our way, beach bound for fun! We arrived in Sullivan's around 8pm, just in time for a quick bottle and then to bed for what was sure to be an eventful weekend. Carter could not contain his excitement all weekend and decided 7:00am vacation wake-up calls were to be his job all the way through Sunday. Our first day of excitement started with a morning walk on the beach and a first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean (and some fun watching the dogs on run off leash on the beach). Knowing this was Carter's first time to the beach, he wanted to make sure he was looking good while taking in the sights. As Julie has already coined, he was Big Pimpin'

Mom did a great job getting Carter around the beach all while avoiding the dogs and keeping Carter out of the direct sunlight. Needless to say, after all mom's efforts, Carter and Dad were exhausted and needed a nap before lunch.

After a brief catnap, we were off to an old favorite, Poe's for lunch to get our batteries fully recharged. After our fun lunch, it was off to another new experience... Carter was going swimming in the pool! Of course, before anyone was allowed in the pool, we had to make sure we were all properly protected from the elements. This meant a healthy lathering of SPF 70+ for Carter prior to his first dip

Then it was into the pool for our first dip ever into the biggest bathtub Carter had ever seen

It did not take Carter long to get comfy in the pool and to feel relaxed and right at home (probably didn't hurt that it was about 97deg out and the pool was easily in the low 80's). Soon Carter was moving around in the water, only getting upset when more than half his body was out of the water.

Carter's relaxing attitude in the pool inspired mom and dad to get Carter's float bug out to let him really lounge about in the pool and really relax in the Thursday afternoon daylight.

Needless to say, after a bit o' fun in the pool, nap time was inevitable:

We ended our day with a nice dinner at a local restaurant, High Thymes, and then headed off to bed in anticipation of another fun filled day to come in the morning.

More to come...
