Our First Family Vacation

Mom and dad were really excited to get some time off work so we could take our first family vacation. So we packed up the house (Carter has a lot of stuff!) and took off late Thursday night for Sullivan's Island, SC. We all slept in after our late night arrival so we were well rested for a fabulous Friday!
Carter woke up ready to get his play on!

After breakfast and some quick errands, it was pool time.Yes, Carter was excited to get in the water and splash around.

He had a great time playing Peek-a-boo with dad. Now you see dad...

Now you don't.

Don't worry little guy, dad isn't gone forever =)

After Carter got sick of the lady bug, we pulled out his new swimmies so Carter could really test out the water.

Carter took his swimming very seriously.

All that movement was exhausting, so it was time to get out of the water and head off to dinner.

We hit up the local hot spot, Poe's. It was a gorgeous night out and Carter did a great job staying at the table. Eating outside really helped since he had lots to look at.

After dinner, we loaded up the golf cart and headed to the beach. Carter was excited to see the world's biggest swimming pool.

But the boardwalk was really long so he needed a helping hand from dad to make it the whole way.

It was really nice out and Carter was excited to come back the next day and check out the sand.

Then it was back in the golf cart with a new driver to check out the island.

We hit up the park at Fort Moultrie so dad could give Carter a history lesson. Carter was immediately fascinated by the cannons and enjoyed hitting them.

He took a break to play with his latest fascination, a friendly dog (this dog even gave Carter a kiss which he loved!).

Then it was back to the cannons where Carter showed off another new skill... climbing under things.

Cannons sure are fun!

We had a wonderful first day of vacation. And after all that excitement we were definitely in for a good night sleep. This was very important since we had lots more fun planned for our second vacation day!
