Backyard Makeover

Anyone who has seen our backyard knows it wasn't quite the "Crown Jewel" of our house. With a little one months/weeks/days away from walking, it was time to take action. So with a little professional help, we got started. The first action was making a play spot for Carter. This consisted of building out the back right corner into a nice level area thanks to a nice new retaining wall. Then came tearing up the old "grass" to make room for the good stuff.Carter loved watching the action. Soon we had a blank slate (plus a new bead around the tree in the corner)...Now Carter was really getting excited!By the end of the day, we had fresh dirt and a level yard.

Things were starting to look ready for our new sod. Since the back was looking good, we needed to turn our attention to the back of the house, Colin started ripping out all the overgrown bushes and plants. After 9 refuse bags, some Tylenol for backaches, several broken plastic stakes and a nice afternoon tan, the back area was covered and ready to go.Only a day later, it was mulched and ready for Carter's new play set. The backyard looked ready for future t-ball and soccer games.

Even the side yard was ready for future toddler activity. The dogs make quick use of their new space. Madie broke in the backyard with lots of rolls and back rubs.

And Carter loved his first time in his new yard! He is a little too prissy to crawl in the grass (he doesn't want to get his hands wet) so he just sat, giggled and watched the dogs play. We're very excited for all the fun we are sure our new yard will bring us!
